Human papillomavirus

HPV

HPV (human papillomavirus) is a commonly occurring virus. The virus is transmitted via sexual contact. HPV is often eliminated again by the body itself, but this doesn´t always happen. Cervical cancer can develop in a very small percentage of women. There are several types of HPV. At Eurofins | NMDL-LCPL, we test for 14 high-risk HPV types.

How do you send in the sample?

To test a woman for HPV you use our cervical cytology material. You use the brush to smear the cervix and fix it in the tube with the liquid (ThinPrep medium). You send the tube with patient material by post or you give it to the courier. You will receive the result within five working days.

Occasionally it can be useful to know what type of HPV is found. Eurofins | NMDL-LCPL can determine this for you as well. Contact Eurofins | NMDL-LCPL via 088 235 02 35 for this.
