Herpes simplex virus

STD, molecular diagnostics

Herpes simplex virus is often diagnosed on the basis of the characteristic blisters and the complaints. If necessary, Eurofins | NMDL-LCPL can perform (supplementary) testing on fluid from the blisters or on a smear from the bottom of the blisters. This is done with the aid of PCR, which enables the Herpes simplex virus (HSV) to be detected in a very sensitive and reproducible manner.

How do you send in the sample?

Examination for the Herpes simplex virus is the same for men and women. For both the testing is done on a swab with blister fluid. You fix this swab in the Cobas tube and send it to us by post. You will receive the result within five working days. For this diagnosis we follow the multidisciplinary guideline of the Nederlandse Vereniging voor Dermatologie en Venereologie (NVDV - Dutch Society for Dermatology and Venereology) and the Nederlandse Vereniging voor Medische Microbiologie (NVMM - Dutch Society for Medical Microbiology).
